Reflecting Upon God (Psalm 17)
1. His Presence: V2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence.
2. His Proclamation: V4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
3. His Pathway: V5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
4. His Passion: V7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness.
5. His Power: V7 O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
6. His Protection: V8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.
7. His Perfection: V15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
The Prayer of Samuel (I Samuel 12:23)
1. It was Personal- Moreover as for me.
2. It was Progressive- God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray.
3. It was Precious- to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way.
Jacob's Peniel Experience (Genesis 32:24-26)
1. A Place of Peace- v24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
2. A Place of Purpose- v25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
3. A Place of Prayer- v26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
With God's Word in My Heart (Psalm 119:11)
1. A Perfect Provision- Thy word.
2. A Perfect Pattern- have I hid.
3. A Perfect Place- in mine heart.
4. A Perfect Purpose- that I might not sin against thee.
